Money in Room 3

Money Learning in Room 3

This week we started our learning journey about money in Room 3.

We looked at what money looks like here in New Zealand and practiced ordering our coins and notes from smallest to largest.

“Our biggest coin is the $2 coin. Our biggest note is $100” - Zaidore

“Our notes are a lot of different colours.” - Honi

It was interesting to see our prior knowledge about money!
We enjoyed sorting our money correctly.

Can you sort money from smallest to largest too?

Matariki in Room 2

In Room 2 we have been so excited to learn all about
Matariki - Māori New Year

“Matariki is when the seven stars are up in the sky.
 It means Māori  new year”
- Deijahnaye

This week we have made goals to celebrate Matariki.
First we wrote down 2 goals that we want to achieve by the end of the year.

Brieze’s goals are
“I want to get better at sitting up on the mat”

Hererahi’s goals are
“I want to be good at helping people”

Wayne’s goals are
“I want to be good at rugby and soccer”

Then we wrote them onto feathers  and decorated the feathers with Māori patterns and vibrant colours.
After all our feathers were finished we put them onto cardboard and decorated with feathers to make our Korowai cloak.

We love our korowai cloak!

Perfect Attendance in Room 5!

Perfect Attendance!

In Room 5 we have been Attendance Warriors!
We have won the Trophy 3 weeks in a row
for Term 2.
We have written some letters for you about what we have done to make sure we have been at school everyday!

Dear Yendarra,

We have won the Best Attendance Trophy for 3 weeks in a row by coming to school everyday. We wear the correct uniform to school everyday especially our black leather shoes to keep our feet warm and dry! When our feet are dry, we stay healthy and we don't get sick. We don't stay at home and we come with our jumper to make us warm and to help us be here everyday. We come to school to be the best we can be and to learn. The best thing to do is, you must eat healthy food like brown bread, fruit and drink water everyday to stop you getting sick!

From Ivalani.

Dear Yendarra,

We won the Trophy because we come everyday to school! You have to be at school on Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. School is good for you. You have to be here at 8:45 because that is when the bell rings!

From Amelia.

Dear Yendarra,

We have won The Best Attendance Trophy for 3 weeks by coming to school everyday. We wear the right uniform and wear covered shoes. We like school! That is why we are here everyday. We come to school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

From Talia.

Dear Yendarra,

We have been the Attendance Warriors! We had the Trophy for three weeks. Everyday we come to school and that goes into the attendance booklets!

From Xialo.

Animal homes!

In room 1 we have been learning all about animals and where they live.

Did you know that animals live in different places called habitats?

Animals are specially made so that they can survive in their habitat.

Firstly we did lots of research on our iPad's to find what habitats there are in our beautiful world.

Then we got into 5 groups:

Rain forest
Desert
Wetlands
Tundra
Ocean

Lastly we looked at pictures and recreated our own versions!

Here we are creating and designing the habitats as a team!

The finished products!

 Desert

Ocean
Tundra

Rain forest

Wetlands

What habitat do you think a snake might live in?

What animal might live in the Rain forest?

Come and visit room 1 to see them in real life!
